The Warehouse Assistant Manager is responsible for supervising and developing warehouse staff, managing inventory accuracy, and overseeing receiving, picking, packing, and dispatching of goods. They ensure compliance with safety and operational standards, maintain warehouse equipment, and support the daily operations, workflow efficiency, and reporting.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee warehouse staff, assign tasks, and monitor their performance.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new warehouse personnel.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings and provide coaching to staff.
- Monitor stock levels, perform cycle counts, and ensure inventory accuracy through regular audits.
- Manage the receiving process for incoming items and ensure they are stored correctly and safely.
- Coordinate the picking, packing, and dispatching of goods.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse to ensure an optimal workflow and efficient space utilization.
- Enforce and promote compliance with company health and safety regulations.
- Ensure that the warehouse meets required sanitation and housekeeping standards.
- Ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met in warehouse operations.
- Oversee the maintenance of warehouse equipment and issue work orders for repairs or replacements.
- Identify operational issues and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate with other departments and external partners to integrate logistics with overall business operations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or higher; must be a Malaysian citizen.
- 3–6 years of experience in retail, grocery, or warehouse operations; experience handling perishable items is an advantage.
- Experience in budgeting, cost control, and leading continuous improvement (Kaizen) projects.
- Proven success in implementing new processes or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Ability to operate reach trucks or forklifts is beneficial; certified forklift drivers preferred.
- Proficient in WMS and Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and process improvement skills.
- Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
