Job Description

LEGAL ASSOCIATE (LITIGATION (BANKING))

Job Descriptions :

1. To be entrusted to handle the banking litigation matters (from the commencement of the legal proceedings right up to the completion of the execution proceedings).

 2. To conduct a legal research and analysis on banking laws, regulations, and industry standards.

 3. Draft and review legal documents, including complaints, motions, briefs, and settlement agreements.

 4. Communicate with Clients, external counsel, regulatory agencies, and other parties involved in banking litigation matters.

 5. Provide legal advice and guidance to internal teams on regulatory compliance, risk management, and litigation avoidance.

 6. Stay abreast of developments in banking law, litigation trends, and industry best practices.

 7. Provide timely and accurate legal advice and guidance to Clients and colleagues.

 8. Assist with case management, including organizing documents, maintaining case files, and meeting deadlines.

 9. Uphold ethical standards and professional integrity in all aspects of legal practice.

 10. To liaise with the Firm’s esteemed Clients on a regular and high frequency basis   including but not limited to attending to correspondence such as emails, WhatsApp messages and other given communication modes or platforms, providing status   reports (both in general and monthly basis) and rendering legal opinions.

 11. To handle multiple tasks at any given one time and to complete the assigned tasks within the requisite time frame provided.

 12. To handle any ad-hoc matters assigned as and when necessary.

Mandatory Requirements :

Legal Associate (Litigation (Banking))

 1. Admitted to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of  Malaya and possessed a valid practicing certificate for the current year of 2024 and 2025.

 2. Minimum one (1) year of prior experience in banking or general litigation.

 3.Excellent command of both English and the National languages (both spoken and written).

 4.Must be able to work independently with minimum assistance from the supporting clerical staff, ownership-taking and a team player.

 5.Must have good character, attitude, aptitude, soft and communication skills to ensure to ensure that the assimilation process into the the existing team of  dedicated and committed lawyers and supporting clerical staff is done with ease.

 6.The attributes of being diligent, hardworking, self-driven and highly motivated are must haves as well.

 7.Must possess own transportation.

 8. Must be able to accomplish assigned tasks and conduct research during the weekends and public holidays (whenever it is necessary to do so).

2) CLERKS (LITIGATION)

Job Descriptions :

 1.To guide the team effectively while maintaining strong collaboration and communication.

 2.Assist attorneys with all aspects of case management, including organizing files, maintaining case calendars, and tracking deadlines.

 3.Prepare and file legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and discovery requests, in accordance with court rules and procedures.

 4.Coordinate document production and manage the discovery process, including collecting, reviewing, and organizing evidence.

 5.Assist in drafting correspondence, legal memoranda, and other written materials under attorney supervision.

 6.Maintain communication with Clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other parties involved in litigation matters.

 7.Assist in scheduling depositions, hearings, and other case-related meetings.

 8.Provide administrative support to attorneys, such as managing phone calls, emails, and appointments.

 9.Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the litigation practice.

Mandatory Requirements :

Clerks (Litigation)

 1.Minimum SPM levelbut any qualification of higher learning is an added advantage.

 2.Must be able to work independently and expeditiously with minimum supervision and guidance from the experienced team of lawyers and supporting staff.

 3.Must have good soft and communication skills, diligent, hardworking and self-driven.

 4.Must have good command of both National and English languages and good computer skills.
