We are seeking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Head of Student Potential Development Unit (SPDU) to join our school. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain an effective organizational structure for the SPDU that supports the needs of special education students.
- Develop strategic plans that align with the school’s mission and goals, ensuring all special needs functions are well-coordinated and executed.
- Assists in the adaptation of school policies to include special education needs.
- Design and implement specialized curriculum modules tailored to meet the diverse needs of special education students.
- Create and administer comprehensive entrance assessments to evaluate the specific needs and abilities of incoming special needs students.
- Determine appropriate class placements for special education students based on assessment results, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources.
- Develop criteria and processes for transitioning students out of special education programs when appropriate, ensuring a smooth and supportive exit.
- Promote best teaching practices and provide guidance and support to teachers in the delivery of special education instruction.
- Organize and conduct training sessions for educators to enhance their skills in special education.
- Oversees the recruitment, training, and supervision of shadow aides who provide individualized support to special education students in the classroom.
- Provide regular feedback to students, parents, and teachers regarding students’ progress and areas for improvement.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and ensure a secure environment for all special education students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Special Education, Education, or related field.
- Proven expertise in developing and managing special education programs.
- Strong understanding of special education laws and best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, parents, and students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in special education.
