Job Description

Qualification/Experience

  1. Degree or Diploma with two (2) years related experience

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Prepares journal and ledger entries.
  2. Processes or monitors the processing of financial and accounting transactions.
  3. Examines and analyses accounting and financial records and documents such as bank statements, expenditures, budgets and others.
  4. Ensures accuracy and compliance with government and granting agency guidelines, tax laws as well as accounting, reporting and payroll policies and procedures.
  5. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of these matters and gives explanations to researchers, staff and agencies.
  6. Sets up accounts, sub-accounts, and budgets.
  7. Compiles and prepares material to be sent to bank.
  8. Advises on and arranges payment schedules.
  9. Monitors and reconciles various accounts, statements, and reports.
  10. Identifies and analyses discrepancies and errors.
  11. Makes corrections, processes adjustments and follows up on problems.
  12. Audits outstanding items.
  13. Prepares schedules, reports and financial statements.
  14. Makes recommendations on budget allocations. Supplies information and documentation to auditors.
  15. Maintains computerized information systems and participates in their implementation and development to improve efficiency within the unit.
  16. Liaises with computer resource persons as required.
  17. Sets up and maintains databases and spreadsheets.
  18. Enters data and updates information.
